SELECTION GUIDE

How to Choose the Right Jaw Crusher for Your Quarry

When choosing a jaw crusher for a quarry, define the raw material conditions and the goals of the entire line before comparing model specifications. Feed size, material hardness and target throughput are connected. If any of these lacks a sound basis, the equipment may prove mismatched once production starts. Preparing complete selection information is more useful than simply looking for a larger feed opening or a higher power rating.

01 / SELECTION CHECK

Confirm feed size and actual composition

Maximum feed size determines whether the equipment can accept the raw material, but measuring one supposedly representative rock is not enough. Understand the proportion of oversized lumps in daily deliveries, the size distribution, moisture and clay content. Distinguish hardness from abrasiveness: both affect crushing and wear behavior. For variable feed, assess prescreening, feeding control and any crushing tests that may be needed.

02 / SELECTION CHECK

Define the target through effective output

Set the target throughput around effective working hours each day and the needs of downstream equipment. If the line must produce several aggregate sizes, allow for the capacity occupied by screening, return material and rejected material. The capacity range in equipment literature applies under particular conditions; it is not a promise that every site will achieve that output. Procurement teams should record raw material throughput and acceptable finished-product output separately, avoiding comparisons based on different definitions.

03 / SELECTION CHECK

Match the discharge setting to the next stage

For example, the supplied RP-JC-1200 data lists a maximum feed size of 750 mm, a discharge adjustment range of 100–200 mm and capacity of 150–350 t/h. When selecting the setting, check the permitted feed size of the next crusher and the conveying capacity. The discharge opening does not describe the complete product-size distribution. Final grading must be assessed together with downstream crushing and screening.

04 / SELECTION CHECK

Include installation and maintenance in the comparison

Beyond the main machine specifications, check foundation capacity, transport dimensions, lifting conditions, power supply and maintenance space. A heavy machine or restricted site access can change how installation must be organized. Jaw plates, fasteners, lubrication points and transmission components need routine inspection. Include spare-parts supply and the capabilities of maintenance personnel in the procurement discussion, so that the initial purchase price does not overshadow the continuing cost of operation.

05 / SELECTION CHECK

Check stable feeding and supporting capacity

The feeding arrangement directly affects jaw crusher loading. Persistent uneven feeding, short bursts of concentrated loading or long interruptions can cause actual behavior to differ from expectations. Explain the loading equipment, transport rhythm and hopper layout when discussing the configuration. Check feeder and prescreening arrangements where needed. Assessing these inputs alongside the crusher specifications gives a clearer view of whether the equipment capacity matches the way the site operates.

06 / SELECTION CHECK

Use a complete brief to obtain configuration advice

Before requesting a quotation, prepare the material name, maximum lump size, hardness and abrasiveness, target throughput, downstream equipment and project location. State whether the project is a retrofit. When operating conditions are unclear, discuss sampling and testing first, then confirm the equipment settings and capacity target. Giving RockPeak this information makes it easier to compare models, supporting equipment scope and delivery conditions, reducing repeated revisions to the proposal.

Keep the guide beside the specification.

Review the RP-JC-1200 specification and operating limits, or compare the equipment families. Discharge settings and nominal capacity should always be read with the process conditions.

Turn your site information into a clearer brief.

Send the material, feed size, required output, downstream equipment and project location. Identify uncertain conditions before selecting the model.
